CTO Challenge #88: Birthday

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a wonderful three-day weekend! I just wanted to say a big thanks to all the veterans out there. I am a very grateful for your service.

There is a new challenge at Celebrate The Occasion. This week our Challenge is Birthday but you must use a cupcake.

I made my card with a fall feel to it and I tried out a twisted easel card for the first time. I also played around with the cupcake and made it into a shaker.

CTO Challenge #84: Male Birthday

Hello Everyone,

Its time for a new challenge over at Celebrate the Occasion. This week we are celebrating the guys! Our challenge is to make a birthday card for a guy, the only rule it MUST be a TALL CARD!

My card is 4 X 8 1/2 and quite manly too!

I have been noticing the mustache trend in paper crafting and thought that this was the perfect occasion to try it out.

What was used:

Cupcake Birthday

Hi everyone,

 I wanted to make another accordion card with a cupcake birthday theme. I really enjoyed making my first animal accordion card and it still remains one of my most viewed card. I really had fun with the color combination on this card.

I will be linking this card to Celebrate the Occasion Challenge #49: Anything Goes Birthday


I will be using it for one of my upcoming classes at Memories Live On along with a cupcake-shaped shaker card.

Nuts About Sketches # 168 and # 169

Hello Everyone,

I usually don't post my pages until Shawn has a chance to post on the Nuts About Sketches blog but she was away and had a little mishap with her scheduler for sketch 169 and I also have a little mishap with sketch 168 from the previous week. So sorry if I have kept you all waiting. So today you will you have two pages in this post and after Shawn has posted the new sketch for this Monday there will be another post.

Both pages are for my in-laws' book. I am working on a scrapbook for my in-laws, it has taken me almost three years but now I am 3 pages away from completing it. It is looking really good and I will have to hand it over by August 15 when my Mother-in-law take it back to Finland.

Sketch 168 (left side):

This page is of the sauna and the lake at the summer place. The Finns are crazy about their saunas. In the summer it is just beautiful by the summer place and evening are so relaxing to sweat in 100 degrees Celsius (that's 212 degrees Fahrenheit), then running to the lake to cool off. The title 'Mennaan Saunaan' means 'Let's go to the sauna.'

 Sketch 169

I have been putting my titles for their book in Finnish but this one I had the perfect letters to go with the paper and since my in-laws speak excellent English I decided to use English for this one. The picture is of them skiing, they are avid cross country skiers sometimes taking the grand kids with them. My kids haven't gone yet but they have something to look forward to.

Dinosaur Train Card

I made this card for my son's birthday. He just turned three years old. He loves trains all he talks about is Thomas last year I made him a Thomas card in SCAL. This year he also has a thing for dinosaurs. So I thought of combining both. I used the Create a Critter cart with my Gypsy, for the project. I think Create a Critter cart is a must have for parents with little ones.

I used the Gypsy because I could hide portions of the images I did not want and to save paper. I hid the faces on the train and the sun, so that only the dinosaurs were smiling. Its also nice to hide other portions of the trains so that I didn't have to cut the same thing twice in two different colors.You can still cut the same card without the Gypsy though.

Sizes for the cuttings:
The card base is a folded 8 1/2 X 6 inch piece of cardstock
Patterned piece of paper is 4 X  5 3/4 inch
Palm trees (1 regular and 1 flipped) - 2 1/2 inches
Sun - 1 3/4 inches
Train - 1 3/4 inches, you will also need another train car cut at 2 inches
T-Rex - 2 1/2 inches
Brontosaurus - 2 1/2 inches.

Ink the edges for more definition. 
Glue the trees and the sun flush onto the card but use pop-dots to pop up the train and dinosaurs.

My Sheri Craft Challenge #11: "Patriotic Week"

Hi Everyone! Its been a while since I posted so I guess I can start with another challenge that got me motivated. I made this card with a wonderful bursting firework SVG file I found somewhere, I can't even remember now. I cut the file twice with DCWV glitter paper with SCAL on my Cricut. Hope you'll enjoy it.

Cat In The Hat Page

My daughter made a 'Cat In The Hat' hat at her pre-school to celebrate Dr Suess' birthday. She wore the thing for days so I had to get a few pictures of her wearing the hat. I used SCAL to cut the Cat in the hat and the title is a line from the book. I hope you like it.

Some recent cards

I have been busy making cards. Here are a few of my favorites.

These cards were done using Forever Young Cricut Cartridge. I really love the images on this cartridge, its really fun to use for cards for your girl friends. I have also used my Cuttlebug embossing folders with them too.

 

These next cards I used two of my favorites flowers (Primas and Petaloos) and one of my Martha Stewart border punches.

I bought the DCWV Flower Shower Spring Stack and love it! Here are a few cards I made with the a few pages.

These are cards made with my Cricut cartridges or SCAL.

Other miscellaneous cards I have made with stamped images and one with a chipboard cupcake.  

90 Onnea!

Here is a card I made for my husband's grandmother who just turned 90 years old. It took so long to make svg for the scallops behind the numbers, but it was so worth it.

61 cards

I have been very busy! I made 60 valentine card for my daughter's school to sell for fund raising and one birthday card for a friend. I will tell you more in another post but for now here is what 61 cards look like. I really love my new Cricut cart: Forever Young.

Flower cards

I made these cards using files from Darcy's Designs. The files are called Bitty Blooms and Blooming Ribbons (these files comes with some bonus files too).

Card 1: 8x4 card, used Bitty Blooms file. Cut the 9 daisies of the same size and made 3 flowers. Layering them on top of each other with a pop dot in between the layers and added a 'bling' to the center. The leaves are actually cut from the four petal flower in the same file then cut apart.

Card 2: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card, used both Bitty Blooms and Blooming Ribbons for this one. Used the attached the ribbon svg unto a rectangle svg in Inkscape and used it for the base card. I added a strip of paper embossed with dots to make the card even. I cut the bloom at different sizes in 3 different polkadot paper and layered with pop dots in between the top 4 layers (6 layer total). Then added a 'bling' to the center.

All About Me Page

Here is an 8 1/2 x 11 page I did for my BASF swap. I used my Cricut Georges cart for the flowers and SCAL for the title. I have been really using my Martha Stewart punch. Love it!

Sprinkler Fun

It has already been a very snowy winter, I would really love a little warmer weather. Here is page I did to remind me of summer. My kids were playing at a sprinkler park. I used my Cricut Indie Art and SCAL for the cuts, DCWV glitter summer stacks for paper, some clear Raindots and one of my Martha Stewart punch. The layout used was from Page Maps' Page Call.
