Hello everyone,
I am very sad today :-(
I sadly have to say goodbye to my Cricut Gypsy. The USB port where it connects to the computer and Cricut machine broke off. You can hear it rattling around inside. There is no way to connect it to anything so I can't use it. It is also out of warranty since I have had it for over a year and a half.
Luckily I had backed up my files in October last year so I imported them into Craftroom and I just recreated the files that were made since then. So now I have to learn to use Craftroom. I am surprised how much of a learning curve it is, when I compare it to the services on my Gypsy, but I guess it still is a work in progress and they are always updating it.
I really don't think I will buy another Gypsy, although I will miss the freedom to create on the go (you have to have internet connection for Craftroom to design or cut).
So I put my Gypsy back into its box with all its accessories and gave it a nice burial in the back of my closet. If I am lucky to get another one then I will have to pull it out again and send to Provocraft for them to use the same serial number in the new one.
Anyways its goodbye to an old pal.
Gone too soon!
Happy Scrapping!
Judy
Awww, they really aren't too expensive anymore, but I do understand what you are saying. I think I would have to purchase another one if it happened to me. But it's always nice to learn something new!
ReplyDeleteYou may want to call ProvoCraft about your gypsy. That is a known problem with the gypsy and they may send you a new one. A friend here at work had the same thing happen to her, it was not longer under warranty either. They sent her a new one because they are aware of that problem. It's worth a shot!

Such a bummer :(:(
ReplyDeleteI would try calling them like linda suggested, can't hurt to try!
Oh NO!!!!!!!!! I've heard of that happening as well, I agree with Linda, call PC!!!! My friend had the exact same thing happen. I don't know what I'd do without my gypsy, I haven't learned CCR yet either.....good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem and they replaced my gypsy with another one with the same serial number. I lost projects but was able to reload all of my cartridges. Contact them.
ReplyDeleteJudy I would definitely call PC it could not hurt. I have had my Gypsy for a lot longer and I don't know what I would do if something similar happened to me. I do know that I would call PC--Definitely.
ReplyDeleteYou should definately call them and ask them what they can do! So sorry to hear the news :-(
ReplyDeleteHow did you link the cartridges that had already been linked to your Gypsy to the CraftRoom. I called ProvoCraft and they said it couldn't be done, and that you had to have a working Gypsy to do that?
ReplyDeleteI am dealing with this problem as we speak...I've taken the back off of my gypsy...looking for photos on how the port is originally attached to the motherboard so that I can have someone solder mine back on....anyone hear of someone soldering them??? Do they have photos....
