Nuts About Sketches # 176

Hello everyone,

Its my last week on the design team for Nuts About Sketches. I have been very productive, completing 33 sketches in 6 months for this DT. I still hope to use Shawn Sketches and when I do I will share them with you here.

This week I used pictures of my little ones, except for the photo with them together, the pictures were taken 2 years apart. Now my son has celebrated is 4th birthday yesterday and my daughter will be 6 years old in a couple of weeks. The time has gone by so fast!

I used the left side of the sketch for my layout.

What was used:
DCWV The Cotton Bloom Stack
Making Memories Spring sticker
Martha Stewart Custom Stamp Set for the title
EK Success Fastenator
Circle cutter

I am sharing a photo of my son blowing out the candles on his cake. My daughter chose the Valentine sprinkles for the top.

Please visit Nuts About Sketches and get inspired by the layout the rest of the DT submitted. I want to say Thanks to Shawn for choosing me for her DT, I can't wait to see what her new DT will do with her sketches.

Happy Scrapping!

Nuts About Sketches # 175

Hello everyone,

Its time for another sketch over at Nuts About Sketches. Shawn has also chosen the ladies for the new DT starting in September. I did not reapply for the team so this means that my term is almost come to an end this month. I really enjoyed working with her sketches it forced me to be very productive with my scrapbooking.

This week I have continued the school theme. My daughter had a class photo taken so I decided to turn it into a page. I did not put that photo on the page when I took the picture because of all her class mates. There are three other photos on the page of her having fun in her class.

Her teachers and her friends wrote her letters and I wanted to preserve those, some of the messages were so cute. Years from now she can read them and remember her Pre-K years. One of my favorite message was from her teach Marc, he wrote "Dear Aliisa, I will remember how excited you were about: 1. Putting on your plays and 2. Everything!" This sums up my daughter perfectly!

What was used:
Cricut Accents Essential
Paper from my stash (had it for a while can't remember the brand)
Cloud 9 Designs Chipboard Alphas
Decorative Paper clips

Hope you will take some time to go the Nuts About Sketches and see the gorgeous layouts the ladies have created this week and show us what you have done with this sketch.

Happy Scrapping

Nuts About Sketches # 168 and # 169

Hello Everyone,

I usually don't post my pages until Shawn has a chance to post on the Nuts About Sketches blog but she was away and had a little mishap with her scheduler for sketch 169 and I also have a little mishap with sketch 168 from the previous week. So sorry if I have kept you all waiting. So today you will you have two pages in this post and after Shawn has posted the new sketch for this Monday there will be another post.

Both pages are for my in-laws' book. I am working on a scrapbook for my in-laws, it has taken me almost three years but now I am 3 pages away from completing it. It is looking really good and I will have to hand it over by August 15 when my Mother-in-law take it back to Finland.

Sketch 168 (left side):
This page is of the sauna and the lake at the summer place. The Finns are crazy about their saunas. In the summer it is just beautiful by the summer place and evening are so relaxing to sweat in 100 degrees Celsius (that's 212 degrees Fahrenheit), then running to the lake to cool off. The title 'Mennaan Saunaan' means 'Let's go to the sauna.'

What was used:
Cricut Gypsy Font (Title 1 inch letters welded)
Cricut Cindy Loo (5 flourishes for branch stem at 1 inch)
Cricut Mother's Day Bouquet (60 leaves cut at 0.5 inch on double sided green paper)
SCAL for the bucket
Fiskars Embossing plate in my Cuttlebug
DCWV Playtime Stack
Cardstock: Recollection and TPC Studios, K&C Remake Grass Green

 Sketch 169
I have been putting my titles for their book in Finnish but this one I had the perfect letters to go with the paper and since my in-laws speak excellent English I decided to use English for this one. The picture is of them skiing, they are avid cross country skiers sometimes taking the grand kids with them. My kids haven't gone yet but they have something to look forward to.

What was used:
DCWV The Winter Wonder Stack
TPC Studio Winter Blues Sticker Stack
Colorbox Glitter Rub-ons
Felt snow flakes and other embellies from my stash.

You can still visit Nuts About Sketches to see the gorgeous layouts from the rest of the DT and check in later for my take on Sketch 170.

Nuts About Sketches #166

Hello everyone,

There is a new sketch up at Nuts About Sketches. I have done another page for my in laws' book. I am trying to get it ready for them as they will be here in two weeks. I am not sure I'll get it ready in time. One thing I am sure of is that I will be quite jealous of their book, its looking pretty good!

I have used pictures of the family's summer home for the layout and added numbers at the top left hand corner of each photo to correspond with the journaling tab. The title Mökki translates to cottage. I have used the strawberry patterned paper because you haven't eaten good strawberries until you try them from this part of the world! The flags I included because when the family gets together at the summer place our country's flag is flown to show who is there. These are all the possible flags that can be flown at the summer cottage. Our own little United Nations!

What was used:
Cricut Gypsy Font
Gypsy
DCWV Farmer's Market Stack (Strawberries were cut from the paper)
DCWV and Recollection Cardstock

Please visit Nuts About Sketches and see the lovely layouts and inspire us with your take on this sketch.

Hello everyone,

This is the final sketch of the Nuts About Sketches Birthday celebrations. I had so much fun producing the pages and I got so much done in such a short space of time its is unbelievable!

For Sketch 7, I used pictures of my son having his first hair cut. This is what is written in the journaling:
We weren't exactly ready to give you a hair cut, but when daddy asked, "Why is Aleksi loosing his hair? I knew something was wrong! Aliisa had taken her play scissors and started cutting your hair. Chunks of your beautiful curls were just lying all over the floor. We had to cut it to make it even. Daddy was the happiest, he got out his sheer and got rid of all of it. You still looked cute, but mommy was not too happy because her little baby looked so much like a little man!

Nuts About Sketches Birthday Celebrations: Sketch 6

Hello everyone,

Another page celebrating Nuts About Sketches' birthday! For this sketch I used pictures of my husband and myself on our trip to Stockholm, Sweden summer 2010. It was so nice! It was like a second honeymoon, just the two of us no kids for a week and a half!

I cut a circle out of a tourist map and used it in place of the larger photo to show off the where we stayed and things we did on the trip. I still have to add the journaling though. Some of the embellies (brads and the flower paper on the right) were bought in Sweden too. We had a fun trip and I even got to meet up with a high school girlfriend I had not seen for more than 15 years.

What was used:
Cricut Plantin Schoolbook (letters cut twice at 1.8 inches)
Gartner Studios Airplane Voyage Collection Paper pack
